BENJAMIN is the feature debut from the comedian, actor, writer and director Simon Amstell.

The soundtrack has been composed and performed by Mercury Music award winning, BRIT Award and Ivor Novello nominated songwriter James Righton (KLAXONS, SHOCK MACHINE) in collaboration with the film’s writer and director Simon Amstell who has written lyrics with lead actor and musician Phénix Brossard performing. Marathon Artists will release the soundtrack on 15th March.

Quote from James Righton:
“A few years ago Simon sent me Benjamin to read and asked me if I’d be interested in writing some music for the film. I loved the script and said yes. Initially Simon came over to my house to write the songs for Noah’s band. It was a very fun and easy process with Simon writing the lyrics to the songs we came up with. When it came to scoring the film I wanted to make sure the music felt intimate, playful and naive. I recorded all the instrumentation at home and in a very small way and with love.”

The bittersweet comedy tells the story of Benjamin (Colin Morgan) a rising star filmmaker, who is thrown into emotional turmoil on the brink of premiering his second film, when Billie, his hard-partying publicist, introduces him to a mesmeric French musician called Noah.

Set among the back streets of East and North London, the film boasts original music from James Righton and great performances from its cast including Colin Morgan, Phénix Brossard, Joel Fry, Jack Rowan, Jessica Raine and Anna Chancellor.
