The Cast of Guardians of the Galaxy band together to release an Open Letter in Support of Writer/Director James Gunn

What you can read here is an open letter from Guardians of the Galaxy cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, and Michael Rooker who have all joined together to realise this statement in support of James Gunn, the writer/director of Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and Guardians of the Galaxy 2  in the wake of his firing by Disney Studios earlier in July 2018

Even though these first two films were super successful not only with their box office takings but also with fans across the globe, the resurfacing of ‘offensive tweets’ that James Gunn had already publicly apologized for in 2012 (two years before the first Guardians film)  Disney still felt the need to eject James Gunn from the writer/director chair. Since the announcement of Gunn’s firing there has been a massively vocal band of supporters calling for the reinstatement of James Gunn by Disney, (who own Marvel Studios)

Whilst most people would have found James Gunn’s ‘jokes’ from last decade somewhat offensive, James from then, is not the James from now and when you think that 5 years ago, he publicly took the initiative to get out in front of a potential flack storm to apologize and say that he was always a provocateur when it cames to shock.   He since matured as a person, and definitely settled into a wonderful filmmaker and should never have been ousted for the historical jokes that Disney and Marvel were perfectly aware of (or at least should have been)

Will this joint statement from the ‘Guardians’ make a difference. I hope so
