TEN years after leaving the UK to star in a run of hit Hollywood movies, including Pacific Rim, Hot Pursuit and Warcraft, Robert Kazinsky is back in London making not just his first film here, but also his first comedy. Said Kazinsky: “Since I left a country that is very much my home, I’ve dreamt of coming back. I’ve been very lucky to shoot all over the world but making a movie at back here is something I have always wanted to do and I am thrilled to have such a great project to do it with. “The Revenger has a very funny script and story, and a brilliant cast; there’s a great buzz every day and it’s literally one big laugh from action to cut. I’m loving every minute.”
As well as Kazinsky, The Revenger: An Unromantic Comedy, stars Samantha Barks (Les Misérables), Rachel Hurd-Wood (When The War Began, Peter Pan), Edward Speleers (Plastic, Downton Abbey) and Tony Way (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Edge of Tomorrow). Samantha Barks said: “Connie is a great character and right at the heart of many of the jokes in this story. It’s my first comedic film and I am so excited to get started with the team.” Rachel Hurd-Wood added: “The Revenger is a wonderfully unexpected and amusing story, one which I can’t wait to be a part of.” Anna Chancellor (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Four Weddings and a Funeral) has also joined the cast of writer and director Mark Murphy’s film – which is a fresh take on the familiar rom-com film format as one man’s quest for love turns to revenge when his wife-to-be attempts to take him for all he’s worth. Kazinsky, who plays tech entrepreneur Mark, goes on a spree of hilarious antics with Way as best friend Tim, when he discovers his dream girl, Connie, played by Barks, only wants him for his money. With Hurd-Wood and Speleers as accomplices on either side of the plot, a story of love, revenge and – possibly – closure unfolds. Murphy said: “We are getting hilarious scenes – the chemistry and dynamics between this amazing cast on set are great and I believe cinema audiences are going to be in for a treat and some surprises when this is released next Summer.” He added: “We’re pleased to welcome Anna (Chancellor) on board; the film’s already been cited as the ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral for the cynical generation’ and so it feels apt to have one of that film’s original stand-out actresses with us.” For Murphy, The Revenger is his second feature comedy (following up The Comedian’s Guide To Survival, 2016) and his fifth feature film to date. The film is produced by his own company, Solar Productions, in association with GSP Studios.
Filming is taking place at a variety of locations in the West London and Greater London areas.
