I wasnt going to turn down the chance to send over a few questions to filmmaker Keith Sutliff who took a little time out of his schedule to answer a few of my “prepared earlier” questions for this ongoing series of “Spending Time With,,,” articles.

Whilst you might be familiar with my ongoing filmed project ‘Spending Time With…’ ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5884988/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ) that is due out this year. I was also reminded that its  impossible for me to sit down and chat with everyone I would like to sit with so So I brought the ‘Spending Time With…’ series to frompage2screen,com.

Introducing to my site Mr Keith Sutliff, the creator of The Mason Brothers.

Favourite Childhood TV show growing up?

X-Men

What’s the most ‘starstruck’ you have been?

Don’t really get stars truck. However I followed most of Mike Tyson’s career as a kid. Met him a few years back at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood after his one man show stand up. Was pretty cool meeting him in person and exchanging some words. Favorite athlete and celebrity of all time.

What’s your most memorable ‘fan’ encounter?

Haven’t had one. Only thing I can think of is when I went to a local restaurant and an employee from behind the bar said “you’re that guy in that film coming out”.

What was one of the most memorable films you saw as a child?

Terminator 2

The follow through after writing the script to make the final product (raising the money, pre-production, production/principal photography, and post production).

What is one of the best pieces of advice you can remember being given?

Stay humble, stay focused, and always work really hard.

When it comes to watching films? Physical Media or Digital?

Either or.

Let’s say the same for music?  Digital or Physical?

Physical

Do you have any ‘props or keepsakes from your films?

For sure, the heist masks from my film I am realising “The Mason Brothers”.

What excites you most about the film world today?

It is constantly changing and making it easier and easier to make a film with the technology today with a much lower budget. Unlike in the 90’s it was expensive to shoot off of film. Today most films are shot on digital and you can make a film off of an iPhone if you really wanted to.

Is there one person who you feel has made you are today?

My grandfather James Patterson. He was a 2 star Major General in the Army and Aviation hall of famer. However his humbleness, respect for others, and integrity you would have thought he was just some normal person on the streets. The humbleness/nobility sticks out the most and how every person should act from either running a business or working for someone. Especially being a leader for an organization or in life in general. A true leader that sets the example and bar very high.

What is your proudest achievement?

This film by far. This is probably the hardest thing I have ever done. I have been through two law enforcement academies in different states, was the class leader of the second one, and graduated on time with honors from college. Nothing compares to this. I had to build this from scratch from ground up like a house. Took a year and half of focus and discipline to get it done. The hardest part is managing the large amount of money with making sure all the people that are required to be working on the set show up during production. Same holds true with pre and post production making sure everyone does their part since there is so much coordinating/planning with many people just to make things happen. All this with staying focused during the year and a half to make the film. Then of course keeping your mind on the end goal of it all you want to achieve.

What was one of the first music albums you can remember buying?

Metallica “Load”.

Have you ever gotten someone’s autograph? Which is the most memorable for you?

Mike Tyson. Meeting him in person was pretty cool since I have followed his career from childhood.

How many movies do you think you watch a year?

A lot, however I have not watched as much this past year just because I have been so busy with this film (The Mason Brothers).

I wish to extend my thanks to Keith for taking the time for Spending Time With… me, and also my thanks to Ashleigh for helping arrange it. Many thanks to October Coast Publicity.
