Dinah Sheridan, The Railway Children Dies at 92

The Railway Children is a film that I always remember being on around Christmas time wherever I lived at whatever point in my life I was at.

I remember Bernard Cribbins, I remember Jenny Aguter and pretty much everything about the film.

So it was with sadness that I have just read that the actress who played the Mother of The Railway Children has died.

Dinah Sheridan was Mrs Waterbury, the mother who is forced to move with her three children from the suburbs to a home near a train station after her husband is imprisoned.

Born in 1920, London, her real name Dinah Mec (her name change came when she chose the surname Sheridan from a phone book), she made her debut at the young age of 12 in a production of Peter Pan with Charles Laughton

I hope The Railway Children is on television this year so I can watch Dinah Sheridan once more. Great film, great actress.

She shall be missed.
