What happened to some of the Neverending story cast?

I re-watched this film earlier this week. The first time I saw it was back in 1984 in a dark cinema, I enjoyed the film so much that I watched it 3 times on its initial run.

Rewatching this film made me wonder where the cast went afterwards?

Well This isnt a detailed blog as I am getting ready for work and dont really have too much time to create an article of sorts.

But first off. The main star of the film is Barrett Oliver(Bastian)  (who also played in films like D.A.R.Y.L from the 80s) isnt acting anymore and in fact teaches photography in a University or college in the USA.

Noah Hathaway who played Atreyu currently owns and runs a tattoo parlour in California, He is still doing a small amount of acting from time to time though after a large gap between 1986 and 2012.

Strangely though in 1986 he starred in a film called Troll. His character name? Harry Potter Jnr.

Tami Stronach who played The Child Empress gave birth to their first child in 2012 and has continued her dancing which she began as a child, She is now approaching her 40th birthday.

So there you have it, not all actors and actresses stay in the business, some decide it isnt for them and move on to ‘regular’ lives.

I still loved watching The Neverending Story even though its decades old, yes some of the effects dont hold up but so what. Its the story after all and its still a wonderful one.

FromPage2Screen: Update

things are still going well over at Fp2S (although I prefer to see FromPage2Screen rather than the initials if I am being honest)

I recorded a solo podcast this morning which clocked in around 20something minutes. A few short topics covered including The Avengers record breaking weekend, and why I dont think the Dark Knight will beat that.

Its strange doing a solo podcast, I prefer to chat with someone rather than at noone, but Its been a while since I recorded a media show that wasnt a history show with my good friend Bob. I figured I needed to chat about current movies.

I also took the public way of voicing my feedback for the wonderful show put together by Matt over at Intrepid Audio Productions and his launch of FromPage2Screen:Stateside (he uses the initials, Hmm I must speak to him about that) Great show and I very much enjoyed commenting on the things he talked about on the show, check it out on Itunes.

Other than that, alls okay I guess. I picked up a Blu Ray player today and thats now set up in my living room. Im stunned  (but perhaps shouldnt be) at how grainy some of my DVDs look on it, so Ive kept a DVD player installed there too. Add to that the Blu Ray wont play my Region 1 DVDs and it means that DVD is here in my house to stay. I think the percentage of Region 1 (USA)to Region 2 (UK) is about 15 percent Region 1 (USA) and the rest are UK bought films.

Good news today for the very soon to be appearing FromPage2Screen You Tube Channel. The ‘Item’ that I needed is on its way and soon the channel shall launch. I am quite nervous about it as it will use a lot of my creative skills that I hope I have. Writing, Editing, Photography, Acting and performance capture.  But it will either work or it wont. Time and effort shall tell.

Until then. I hope you are all well and catch up with you soon.

Rwanda 17: Healing a Nation

I love podcasting, I love blogging and as youll hear on several of the shows I appear on, I am very passionate about it.

Now and again however its always worth putting aside the Hollywood films and TV shows and take the time to help publicize another type of film, a serious film and a film that can help make a difference to people that you dont know and people you probably never will meet. Do something worthwhile. I must admit its not something I do often, mainly because I dont watch that many documentaries and havent seen the news for a short while. But I know my history and have seen and heard some on the subject of Rwanda. Ive seen films like Hotel Rwanda, and Shooting Fish. But nothing that is Hollywood can have the impact of watching real footage or hearing from people who actually lived and still live through the chaos that Planet Earth can bring.

I live on Twitter and love chatting to the people who I have seen on the small screen and the large screen. Yesterday I swapped a few messages with one such man.  A co-star of some of the Ewan McGregor/Charley Boorman travel shows, Mr Claudio Van Planta. I noticed he was looking to spread the word even more about the clip that I have attached in this blog. So for once (well not once…but you get my meaning) I am putting entertainment aside and do please watch this film.   and check out the website for more information.

RWANDA-17 is a compelling African success story, told through the inspirational journey of its youngest rising stars: the Rwandan Under 17 football team. Born just after the 1994 genocide, they overcame enormous odds to qualify for the 2011 Under-17 World Cup in Mexico. The first Rwandans to reach this level of world-class football, these young players – more than half of them orphaned by war – show how discipline, determination and uncompromising team spirit leads to the success that can inspire a nation. Their story represents Rwanda’s breathtaking evolution and hopes for a better future, with good leadership and unity at the heart of not only sporting success but also a nation’s efforts to achieve reconciliation and prosperity.

RWANDA-17 is presented by award winning reporter Sorious Samura who became well known for his filming of the brutal civil war in his home country, Sierra Leone. Having experienced the huge challenges a country faces in the wake of conflict, Sorious finds out how the Rwandans succeeded in restoring peace and rebuilding their country.

Black Ops 2: Trailer.

Below youll find the recently released trailer for Black ops 2, coming out at the end of the year. What are your thoughts on it?

Initially I was dissapointed because its way in the future from where the other games were, and I dont know about you, but I really liked the way Black Ops was done in the last game. But then I got to thinking, who the hell really cares about the Campaign? This game will live or die in the multiplayer and whilst the setting and the weapons are just really windows dressing when it comes to online gaming. Its the playability and the fun factor that will win it for me.

But hey. Im not going to solely judge a game on a trailer, nor waste pages of internet space on guessing whether the game will be good or not until I actually play the thing. I just thought that you might like to see the trailer.

FromPage2Screen Updates

The podcasts are going fine, Bob and I have completed the second episode of the Movie History show (thats our history, not the history of film), Episode 3 is being recorded tomorrow. The Media shows have taken on a new format, sort of an accidental format. Gone are the ‘whats new this week, what have I been watching; sort of things and in have come the guest shows with John Foutz, Dexter Goad and Amanda Elizabeth all whom work in ShadowDog Productions. Its always great to have them on a show. Not sure what next weeks Media Show will be as so far Ive no guests lined up but there is still a ton of time before then.

But the biggest news could be that finally the FromPage2Screen You Tube channel is finally coming alive. I had a ‘meeting’ with someone and questioned them on the construction of something that I need. They said yes and now its just a case of waiting for them to come up with the goods. Once they do, the channel can come alive.

Other than that, things are moving quite well. Ive began running several ads for other companies. Black Flag TV for one. Its something id like to do more as FromPage2Screen branches out.

A big thanks to all those who assist me, the AngryMailman himself Anthony Alex has been a huge help by taking up the co host slot for several shows, and a big set of thanks to all those at ShadowDog for appearing on my shows.

A great year for movies…so far.

Each year I try to pick at least two films that have stood out for me. The Top two films of whatever year it was.  Last year I ended up with three films. I could have battled them against each other but I thought, why not just have a Top three for a change.  Those films were Sucker Punch, The Fighter and Red State. Some people might agree that those films are good choices, some people might not agree that they were good choices. But thats the beauty of opinion, I always get to be right in my own mind.

This year I have watched (as I write this) 103 films. I also have several contenders for my favourite films viewed this year (I could have stipulated that the films needed to have been made in 2011 or 2012 but im not that detailed with my awards)

The only rule is that I must have watched the film for the first time in 2012.

So far Ive seen some wonderful films, from the Paddy Consadine directed Tyrannosaur, Lucky McKees The Woman, a cracking thriller called A Lonely Place to Die, We Bought a Zoo and at least four or five more that are worth mentioning.

Only half way  (well slightly less) way through the year and its looking like FromPage2Screen Awards Time will be a difficult time indeed for me. The number one film for me so far is still the number one film that I chose when I watched it many months ago. But only just. Will it manage to hang on til the end of the year.

Even I dont know the answer to that.
